Benefits
Utilizing a permit management application offers a host of benefits for controlling contractors and managing hot work, Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), and other construction activities regardless of project size. One of the primary advantages is enhanced compliance. Such applications streamline the issuance, tracking, and validation of permits, ensuring that all contractors adhere to local regulations and industry standards. This minimizes the risk of non-compliance, which could lead to costly fines or project delays. Furthermore, the digital nature of these applications allows for easy updates and access to regulatory changes, ensuring continuous compliance with the latest requirements.
Another significant benefit is improved safety. Hot work, which involves activities such as welding, cutting, and brazing, carries inherent risks such as fire hazards. A permit management application ensures that all necessary safety measures are in place before work begins. This includes verifying that fire watch personnel are assigned, combustible materials are cleared, and appropriate fire suppression equipment is available. By systematically enforcing these safety protocols, the application helps prevent accidents and enhances the overall safety of the construction site.
Management and Efficiency
Efficiency and productivity are also markedly increased through the use of a permit management application. The streamlined process reduces administrative burdens, allowing project managers to focus on more critical aspects of the construction project. The application can automate routine tasks such as permit renewals, reminders for inspections, and status updates, thereby speeding up the approval process. This not only saves time but also reduces the likelihood of human errors, ensuring that projects stay on schedule and within budget.
Healthcare Facilities
For healthcare facilities, managing ICRA during construction is paramount to preventing the spread of infections. A permit management application can integrate ICRA protocols into the permit issuance process, ensuring that contractors are aware of and comply with infection control measures. This includes implementing barriers to isolate construction areas, controlling airflow to prevent dust and contaminants from spreading, and scheduling work during off-peak hours to minimize disruption to patient care. By meticulously managing these details, the application helps maintain a safe and healthy environment for both patients and staff during construction activities.
Permit Sample
This permit sample shows the information available for each permit as default. These forms are fully HTML compatible, and all information available for the permit can be printed on the document. This permit document includes a QRcode where staff or visitors can scan and view project details and contact someone regarding issues or other concerns.
Every permit requires approval from the officials in charge. When the application/service is deployed, a list of approvers will be required for the system to send them emails when a permit is requested, the permit was approved, etc.
Permit ICRA
If the location of the work being done requires an Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) or an Iterum Life Safety Measure (ILSM), the permit can also track that as well. The permit will serve as the ILSM as it tracks whether firewalls will be penetrated, etc. If the work is near an operating room or other sensitive area, an ICRA is also generated. This ICRA is generated based on the work's impact on patient care and the surroundings.
Fire Watch
This system also has the capability to track fire watches. If the work being done requires burning, welding, etc. The system generates a fire watch form based on the selected level of ILSM. A QRCode is printed as part of the permit for the staff conducting the fire watch to scan at the construction site. The QR code provides a level of security as staff are forced to visit the construction site to scan the code.
